Sandrina Fasoli

Last sunday I was invited to see the f/w collection 2010 of Brussels based designer duo Michael Marson & Sandrina Fasoli. Their brand, Sandrina Fasoli, only just won the first Mango Fashion Awards, designing an exclusive summer/spring collection for the store. I was very curious to see what they have in store for upcoming fall and winter. Keeping the image of an elegant, classy woman of the 40’s and 70’s in mind, the main inspiration for this collection were pictures of mysterious landscapes and girls who only show their hair, keeping their true identity hidden. A moodboard going from warm autumn colors to cold, winter silver and dark, forest black. Creating a floating change of seasons in your garderobe. Playing with different materials, soft silk, rough knittings and even polyester- not in tacky 80’s style, but re-using this misloved material in cool, new, avant-garde shapes. Next to shape and material the fasoli team also played with masculin and feminin. I definetely saw some garçonne touches, laid back trousers, blouses and most of all the crossover pattern that we find in the inside of man blazers are used as ornament on a lot of pieces. Fasoli also designed it’s first bag, planning to start a small lign of maroquineries next season. Here are some pics i took in the showroom and others that I believe would have been right at home on their ‘vision wall’..
