Jonas Mekas is called the Godfather of avant-garde cinema. His movies are like Haiku's:  in a natural perfection of symmetry and rhythm he creates mysterious reality, clever allusions and poetic beauty.
In his films you'll often spot The Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, John Lennon and other artists he was creatively involved with. And if you think Werner Herzog had the coolest accent, think again :)

Could it be Harmony Korine got inspired by Mekas when making this?..

last saturday was the 1st part of the 14 years Ültra Eczema celebration at Schelda'pen.

Party time! Ültra Eczema or the audiolabel, drawings and work of Antwerp wonderboy Dennis Tyfus. 

I really love his work and bought one of his records last week.

last week my friend An & I went to see the exposition 'Kaoz Lily'. Hosted by Belgian artist Fia Cielen, it shows a selection of works of several young, talented visual artists. Graphic art, drawings and a short movie on a passage of 'Vivre sa Vie' of French moviemaker Godard.

If you share the same name and beauty as Dante Rossetti's muse, you might just be predestinated to move us. Opening for Au Revoir Simone (next thursday, Highline Ballroom NY, 9PM) she looks like one of them, long hair, pretty face, Alexa Wilding is again one of those perles rares": talented and beautiful.
