I go walking in your landscape

Finally spring is here. Away with the old, in comes the new. Bumblebees are singing sweet songs in my ear.. This week I enjoyed the sun sitting at the waterside, reading a book on the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts and even did some spring cleaning at home.. Really feel like going for an exile, somewhere perfect like this and just let spring happen: eat,read,write,dance

Café de Flore

I went for a stroll today, falling in love with this city again.

Wich I could have been here in the 40's.

When Albert Camus, Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir where having coffee at Café de Flore,

discussing love, art and politics. I brought the Figaro magazine issue on Noble prize winner Albert Camus along. Passionate about everything he did and believed in, I wonder if people like that still excist.

I looked around in Café Flore, a young fashionista is reading Vogue magazine,

maybe hoping to see Kate Moss, who's a regular at the Café de Flore now.

My café crême is served in the same cups as the ones Simone de Beauvoir took a sip of while writing for "Les temps modernes"

I look again and see an old man, writing, next to him a lady eating a croissant. 

He looks at me, then at my Figaro magazine with Camus on the cover.

"ah oui les temps ont changés" times have changed.

Poets tend to create their own world, where everything is beautiful.

Escapism artists call it: to dream of other, better places.

but then again Voltaire said "Le Paradis est ou je suis"

Paradise is where I am.

Edward James made his fantasy world reality: deep in the rainforest of Mexico he build this beautiful garden of sculptures. It reminds me a bit of Nikki de Saint Phalle's Tarot Garden.

Only I think this one is more mysterious, as it almost blends in with its environment.

kloosterstraat nr 13, new place in town.
graduated at the fashion school in antwerp, parisien romain, wanted to create a space for young artists.
entering the beautiful world of RA, we find names like kitsuné, gareth pugh, givenchy, chloe sevigny for opening ceremony and many more to discover. upstairs a collection of books, music and gadgets that made my christmas wish list twice as long. the people who work there are very nice.
lotus tea and a piece of cake to end with. we stayed almost all afternoon in RA land.

Painter and photographer Todd Selby has been visiting a lot of interesting people in their creative space over the last few years.
I re-discovered this website, moving into my new apartement, inspiring home deco let's say. You can find more on his website theselby.com. love it! i can look at this site for hours..
