MOWGLI GIRL
Tippi was born in Namibia, where her parents, Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, worked as freelance wildlife photographers. During her stay in Namibia, she befriended wild animals, including a 28-year old elephant Abu, a leopard nicknamed J&B, crocodiles, lion cubs, giraffes, a Northern Greater Galago, a Banded Mongoose, an Ostrich, meerkats, a baby zebra, a cheetah, a Caracal, a snake, an African Grey Parrot, giant bullfrogs and chameleons. She also befriended the Bushmen and the Himba tribespeople of the Kalahari, who taught her how to survive on roots and berries, and to speak their language.
Ok, I wish this was my childhood.. More pics after the break.

THE AWAKENING OF A SLEEPING BEAUTY

Elsa Schiaparelli was an Italian fashion designer. Along with Coco Chanel, her greatest rival, she is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars. Starting with knitwear, Schiaparelli's designs were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West.
Schiaparelli did not adapt to the changes in fashion following World War II and her business closed in 1954.

SILVER NEWS
Drag City will issue a collection of early recordings of one of my all-time favorite bands Silver Jews, titled Early Times, on June 19! Recorded when the lineup consisted of David Berman, Stephen Malkmus, and Bob Nastanovich, these 14 tracks were "captured in the hiss-laden boombox mics of 1990-91," according to a press release. They're culled from the band's long out-of-print The Arizona Record 12" (1993) and Dime Map of the Reef 7" (1992).
tracklist:
Early Times
01 Canada
02 The Walnut Falcon
03 September 1999
04 SVM F.T. TROOPS
05 THE Unchained Melody
06 Secret Knowledge of Back Roads
07 I Love the Rights
08 Jackson Nightz
09 The War in Apartment 1812
10 West S
11 You Can't Trust It to Remain
12 The Wild Palms
13 Welcome to the House of the Bats

I'm under the house, I'm dying
I just got the new The Hickey Underworld's CD 'I'm under the house, I'm dying' and it really makes my day. Every day. You can hear the band has grown to a more sophisticated sound - more 'pop' as they would call it - nevertheless remaining true to their grunge and noisecore stained guitar rock sound.

pretty baby
"I love you once, I love you twice, I love you more than beans and rice."
Friday night movie, finally got to watch Louis Malle's Pretty Baby starring Susan Sarandon and a 12-year-old Brooke Shields. The whole movie's got a Lolita vibe. I really enjoyed the esthetics: beautiful clothes, locations and people.

3 years of Coco love

And for the occasion, my very first post, 3 years ago! A short story and picture by Beermilkshake
THE FIRST DAY OF MARCH.
The first day I lay eyes on you was the first day of march. I remember, because it was warm that day and I went for a walk in the park.
There you were, being you. Sitting on a bench, reading Norwegian Wood of Murakami. It was like the world around you didn't exist. Like everything happening around you was utterly vanished. The real world to you was in the pages you read. I stopped walking and went to sit on the bench next to yours. I lit a cigarette. Camel light. That's what I always smoke.
You didn't notice me, so I could watch you without a problem. Not really there, absorbed by your book. You got angry at a certain point. I could tell, because your face turned red, your eyes got bigger and you started to wiggle your feet very nervously. I never saw someone getting so upset over a book. In public that is.
